Wilson Garden on Campground - Anita and Robert Wilson
The Wilson Garden is located in South Forsyth on a property of 2.5 acres. The garden consists of seven beds accented by maples, bushes, flowers, Hosta’s, and other hardscapes. And flanked by large oaks in the rear of the back yard. The property design is country style with about 500 daylilies from a variety of hybridizers. My oldest daylily is ‘Painted Lady’ (Russell, 1942) registered in 1942 and winner of the Stout Medal in 1951. But the garden also consists of many newer introductions, and about ten Stout Medal winners. There is no main focus, just a little bit of everything with a lean towards unusual form and medium to large size flowers.
This garden is a newer garden, and it has been an amazing journey getting it ready to show. Many thanks to my friends, club members, and hybridizers who helped make this process a success. A special thanks to Buddy Childs for making me feel welcome, inviting me to my first Daylily Show and club meeting, and offering his advice. I joined the DSGA club in 2019 when my garden consisted of only 40 daylilies. That is what joining a club will do.
In addition, this garden will host the Region 5 Enman Joiner seedling beds on the 2024 Region 5 Spring Tour. Currently, there are 30 plants in the seedling bed to vote on. These plants are doing well, and some have flowered nicely. I treat them like my little babies and give them special attention.
I look forward to seeing everyone in my garden at our regional in 2024. And I wish all the hybridizers Good Luck next year when the visitors vote.
