Wynn’s Daylily Garden - Jean & Mary Wynn and Jessica Clinard
Wynn’s Daylily Garden is a family run business. Owned & operated by Gene and Mary Wynn with help from their daughter Jessica Clinard. On busy weekends, you will find Mandi, Barry, Sonja, Kenley, Maddi, and Barrett lending a hand as well.
Growing up on a farm never leaves your blood. Gene spent all of his childhood, and a good bit of his grown life, working on his family’s farm. His mother owned a small grocery store, and he helped there as well during his younger years. His love for gardening and flowers stemmed from the time spent with his Mama, watering plants and helping tend her flowers. As an adult, when he got married and had a home of his own, he was given things from his grandmother’s yard to grow at his new home. Azaleas and some old-fashioned daylilies were among those things.
With over 1,000 cultivars, Wynn’s Daylily Garden has one of the largest selections of daylilies in North Central Florida. They begin each Spring with around 3,000 daylilies in 2-gallon pots to sell locally; they also dig and ship nationwide. Jessica hybridizes on a small scale and has had several very nice introductions in recent years. While the garden began with mostly Bill Munson cultivars, they now grow plants from many hybridizers. They also host a number of companion plants such as hydrangeas, pansies, dianthus, coleus, snapdragons, caladiums, amaryllis, roses, and various other things nestled in and around their daylilies. All of this makes for a peaceful haven for birds and butterflies and all kinds of people as well. Most days during blooms season, you can find someone sitting in the gazebo just visiting. They have a screened-in building with picnic tables and fans, which is a great place to have lunch or just hang out for a spell. Wynn’s has restrooms available and plenty of room for buses.
