New Members
We take great pleasure in presenting Cheryl Farley of Thomson, Ga., (Blake Bozeman, Sydney Bozeman, Sue Bozeman, and Skip Bozeman) of Dublin, Ga. as new members of the Dublin Daylily Club. We offer a big warm welcome to each of you.

Remember our members:
We give our love and offer our sympathy to two families of our members who have lost loved ones: Tim and Katisue Herrington and Dr. Heather Herrington (Clark) in the loss of Tim’s mother in December; and Tim and Amanda Kelly in the loss of Tim’s father in January.

Pat Mercer is recovering nicely from her knee surgery Steve, her husband, is expecting big time weeding out of this young lady in the spring. Ruth Killingsworth had her second eye surgery for  double  vision in February.  When she got home she complained that some one had stolen  one of her TV sets. She said she could see two before she left for her surgery, but when she got home she could only see one. Look out you thirps! Not one of you, in that new raised spider bed, will escape Ruth’s eyes this year!

Ethel Maddox had gallbladder surgery  and is doing well.

Earl Maddox had eye lid surgery for cancer  He had another  different cancer surgery in March. We send Earl our prayers for a speedy and positive recovery.

If we have missed anyone, please know that we were not aware of your situation. Let us know, so that we may offer our friendship, love and assistance to you, or your loved one.

DUBLIN Club News:
The Dublin Daylily Club met December 10, 2005 at Ann’s Bellevue Cottage, which was beautifully decorated for the festive occasion. Our new President, Joanne Wall, welcomed guest and club members, and introduced our new officers (listed above).  Guests were: Lana Lott, Teresa Teebles, Megan Spires;and Skip and Sue Bozeman,

After dinner, activities for the year were discussed. The date for our 2006 Daylily Show will be on Saturday, May 27, and  it will be held in the Dublin Mall.  An impromptu  discussion about daylily insects and other problems that cause near heart failure the day before the show was led by our Auctioneer( and wearer of a million “task masks”, all for the love of the beauty of flowers , especially daylilies, Earnest Yearwood (Whew! Introductions for this fellow can never be short) and our new Vice President, Ralph Carson .  Ralph is an expert in the area of insect, weed and fungus control. It was an extremely interesting question and answer session. We thank them both for their informative answers to our many questions.

Members were asked to attend the Region 5 Daylily meeting to be held at the Macon State College on Jan. 14. Our new Region 5 RVP, Floyd McNeal will be leading us into our new year. We wish him the best, and want him to know that we are looking forward to a great year.

Eleven of our members attended the Winter Region 5 meeting. It was a very interesting and fast moving day led by our new RVP, Floyd McNeal. Everyone enjoyed the Georgia Hybridizer’s Slide Show presented by Harold McDonald.

Our club would like to invite all exhibitors in the area to show their flowers Saturday, May 27, 2006, and enjoy the fun and fellowship we always have at our daylily shows. Again, our club will have the People’s Choice Award. Club members and/ or exhibitors can enter only one flower. The entries must be officially registered cultivars. Any size, form, or pattern may be entered. Extra Large , Large and Small cultivars; Miniatures, Doubles, Spiders, Unusual Forms, and Polytepals will all be eligible, and welcome. The contest will be located near the plant sales tables where event goers and the public may vote for their favorite daylily any time throughout the day.  This is intended to be a fun category in the show, and we hope it would encourage the public to look at the blooms with more interest. This event is not sponsored  by the AHS.

All of our members are ready to embrace the New Year with vigor and excitement for the 2006 blooms of our favorite cultivars. Pat Mercer reports that our Dublin Hemerocallis Society has renewed its AHS membership, as it does annually. Individual members of our Dublin Club are always encouraged to belong to AHS.

Readers of The Georgia Daylily and the many people that attend our show, who enjoy gardening and growing flowers are invited to join our club. The officers of our club or any of the members can be contacted for information about the meetings. The Dublin Daylily Club is affiliated with the American Hemerocallis Society, and is organized exclusively for the educational and scientific purposes to promote, encourage, and foster the development and improvement of the genus Hemerocallis and public interest therein.
