Dave Richardson, Regional President, presented the Tim Herrington Award to Larry Miller at our fall meeting on October 4, 2025. This award is provided by Region 5, to recognize those individuals who give of themselves unselfishly; perform service in support of both local and regional activities; and though never wavering in their dependability, they do whatever needs to be accomplished outside the limelight. Larry was nominated for his countless hours of unselfish work in support of AHS, Region 5 and local clubs - all efforts driven by an unwavering love for daylilies. He currently serves as: President of the Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Society, Chair of the club's annual daylily show and festival and he is a Master Gardener and member of the Columbus Botanical Gardens. A few of his efforts to educate and promote Daylily awareness within the Region include, speaking to garden clubs and organizations, media interviews promoting events and activities, teaching classes on Daylily related topics Larry implemented a volunteer opportunity for high school students who volunteer during the annual daylily festival. He has personally supported this effort by giving scholarship money to the organization for students that demonstrate outstanding achievements. Larry always promotes his local club and looks for ways to grow its membership and under his leadership, the CVDS is a growing and thriving community of daylily enthusiasts. In addition, he serves his club by growing and donating plants for all attendees at the club's annual daylily show and festival. We thank Larry for sharing his wealth of knowledge with all who seek it and for his dedicated service to Region 5 and the clubs and organizations he supports.
